RSPCB is the key enforcement agency responsible for regulating industry and overseeing environmental issues in the State. Every citizen has a right to have a clean environment and we must ensure that the poor alone are not made to bear the brunt of environmental degradation. Our Constitution also provides for “right to life” (Article 21) and “Protection and improvement of environment and safeguarding of forests and wild life” (Article 48-A), hence we all have to take proactive action in protecting the environment through enforcement of environmental laws. Improving our environment is not a job just of either the Government or NGOs.  It requires collective efforts and more importantly a change in the way we live and the habits we have become accustomed to. I believe in the Father of nation’s message:-

“The earth, the air, the land and the water are not an inheritance from our forefather but on loan from our children. So we have to handover to them at least, as it was handed over to us. There is a sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.”- Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi...
