Location
Jhalawar district is situated in the south-east corner of Rajasthan at the edge of Malwa Plateau. On the South-West and East it touches the border of Madhya Pradesh State, in the North, the Mukandra range, running from North- West to East forms a rough boundary between the two district viz. Jhalawar and Kota.

Administrative Setup
There are three sub-division, Jhalawar, Aklera, Bhawani Mandi. There are six panchayat samities Jhalrapatan, Khanpur, Pirwa, Manohar Thana, Dag and Bakani, six towns and 1,589 vilalges in the district.

Infrastructure
- Electricity
There are two 132/33 KV grid sub-station in Jhalawar district. One at Jhalawar of 10/12.5 MVA capacity and another at Bhawani Mandi of the same capacity. The district has 1448 villages, of which 1316 were electrified as of March 2000. - Water
As the ground water is available at a depth of 15 to 20 metres, drinking water does not pose any problem. The medium soze irrigation projects in the district are Bhim Sagar Project, Champi Dam and Harish Chandra Sagar Project. - Road Transport
Almost all the towns and most of the important places are well connected with the district headquarter. The Jaipur-Bhopal National Highway also passes through Jhalawar. The total length of different category of roads in the district was 1,360 km as of march 2000. - Rail Transport
Poor rail connectivity. The district is connected with rail facilities at four places viz. Jhalawar Road, Choumahala, Pachpahar and Bhawani Mandi which comes in the way of Delhi-Mumbai broad gauge line of Western Railway. - Air Transport
